SAFTEY & SECURITY
-
Introduction
The school prioritizes the health and safety of its pupils and staff, complying with local regulations on design, space, and maintenance. Two appointed health and safety officers regularly meet with the principal and hold termly reviews to address any safety concerns.
-
General Admission
The principal reserves the right to take any necessary steps to safeguard the school premises, including denying admission to members of the public. While parents are welcome to visit the school at any time, such visits must not disrupt school activities.
-
Enrolment of students with special dietary requirements
The school accepts enrolments of learners with special health needs, ensuring that supportive care is available in a safe environment to meet each child's requirements in a developmentally appropriate manner.
-
First Aid
Each year, at least four staff members are selected to attend an accredited first aid course, ensuring that someone on-site always holds a current first aid certificate. A staff member stays with any child needing first aid, and no one is moved unless it's certain there are no back or neck injuries. In emergencies, staff provide immediate care and seek help. The principal contacts parents in case of injury and informs them if paramedic intervention is necessary. If parents are unavailable, the school arranges medical transport, with costs covered by parents. A teacher accompanies the child to the medical facility if needed. Emergency numbers are displayed near the principal’s phone, and class teachers maintain an accident and illness register.
-
Cleaning routine
The cleaning routine for the school is supervised by the principal or class teacher, following established schedules and procedures. Assistant teachers are responsible for routine cleaning, while any areas contaminated with body fluids or potentially infectious materials are first washed with soap and water to remove all organic matter before being disinfected with a bleach and water solution. If a staff member cannot clean the soiled area, they must restrict access to children and assign the cleaning to a janitor, covering all affected areas brought to their attention. Additionally, cleaning with hazardous chemicals is only allowed when children are not present.

Extinguishers & Fire Hose
The school complies with local authority building legislation regarding the use and maintenance of fire extinguishers and hoses. Fire extinguishers are located in each classroom for easy access and are clearly labeled. The principal ensures that both the fire extinguishers and hoses are inspected annually and that the extinguishers are re-filled as needed.
